This made me smile...

Bill forwarded this to me this morning from one of his co-workers.
This is what it said:

"Congrats on the big win Friday night. Exciting game.
I just wanted to tell you how cool I think it is that your wife
and kids are there behind you in the bleachers, cheering you and the team on.
You've clearly got a great family. :) "

It made me smile.

We want tacos...

Near the end of the game, Dylan couldn't control his excitement!

"We want tacos, we want tacos..."
Gracie loves to scream and stomp when the other team is shooting free throws.  She starts the crowd chanting "defense" and has become quite a fan of Montclair basketball.

Tonight was the third game this week, and we knew it was going to be a tough one against Don Lugo.  We were behind most of the game but pulled ahead in the fourth quarter just to see them hit a three and send it to overtime.  They played tough and stayed strong, and as the score crept closer to 100, the crowd started chanting, "We want tacos!" which I have to assume is referring to the free tacos that fans get after a Laker game when they score 100.  It was a nail-biter to the end, but we came through.  I have reminded Bill many times this season, to stop and enjoy all of these wins.  I don't know how much he has really done that, but I do know that if things continue this well, he will have a really good March and April thinking about what a great season it was.
Luke decided to visit with Molly and John by himself for the first time tonight, so that is why he isn't in any of the pictures.  I kept finding myself looking for him all night, but he had a great time and wasn't ready to come home. Tonight, we had Floyd Ross, his neighbor, Grandma, Grandpa, Bob, Matt and Sarah cheering with us.
To top things off, Bill just texted me that he is canceled their usual Saturday morning practice, so he can sleep in until Dylan's game tomorrow.  Maybe he is enjoying this win a little!

The little people make all the difference...

We have had three games this week, starting with Monday night at home against Chaffey.  I have learned over the years, that near the middle of basketball season the younger kids start getting tired of the same old toys that I always bring. Thankfully, I set aside two gifts from Grandma, and Caleb happily played for a long time with his new "little people" toys, or as he calls them, just "people."  Taking kids to basketball games always requires plenty of food, which usually includes almond butter/peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, crackers, kettle corn, or whatever special surprise I can come up with.  This particular night, we were able to relax and enjoy visiting with Clay, Abby, Matt, Sarah, Grandma and Grandpa. Abby made a poster and pom poms to come cheer on the team.

The game we almost won...

Grandma always brings pom poms for Luke...
Luke and I watching the game
Caleb cheers too in his t-shirt that is way too big!

Gracie and Dylan are very concerned as we fall behind in the fourth quarter...

Losing to Colony again...

Tonight we played Colony High School and lost.  I have never seen Dylan and Gracie want their Dad to win so badly.  I didn't even have to cheer or yell, they did it all for me.  Dylan said it was the "worst day of his life" which led to a long conversation about what really should be classified as a "bad" day.  I too, wanted Bill to win, so that he could feel good about the job that he has been doing this year.  What surprised me more was to see so many of his former players show up tonight to support him.  The visitor side stands were more full than Colony's side.  People were cheering, standing and willing them to win.  I realized how much Bill has done for so many boys in the past 13 years.  Even as I watched him lose again in that awful stinky gym, I was proud of him.
